@fueledforsport: The 3 pillars for recovery: Fluids: to rehydrate, replace lost electrolytes and also help to cool the body down which can improve appetite post exercise Carbs: to replenish, signaling the body to stop breaking down and refuel energy stores that were used up during exercise Protein: to repair, building and repairing broken down tissues that occur during exercise as well as provide the tools to create new growth A meal that has all 3 components is what you want to consume and it doesn’t need to take a lot of time or energy to make. - PBJ with a cheese stick - Chocolate milk with a meat stick - Yogurt bowl with granola, fruit and chia seeds - Protein smoothie with fruit, nut butter and spinach - Scrambled eggs with cheese paired with English muffin and jelly Make sure to pair anything that is not already a liquid with a glass of water for hydration! Do not make the mistake of going to bed after late night practice with nothing to start the recovery process while you sleep. Is yogurt bowl w/ blueberries/strawberries + a banana a solid breakfast? I stopped eating my school’s eggs in the morning because of issues they caused for my body 😔
