This is such a great song for Shen Jiu because he desperately wanted people to actually try and understand him, to actually care. No matter how he acted nor what he said, he needed someone who wouldn’t leave. He left a path of clues, his choices and actions all had reason that he hoped people would reach out and grab onto. Question him. Keep chasing his clues, to understand him. Some people don’t dig deeper into Shen Jiu (including people from the fandom) because he is so bristled. But that’s a part of that mask he so wishes to remove, but keeps it up because he is terrified of what will happen when it falls.
