With the exception of a couple of personal life “hiccups” and injuries in Feb/Mar that kept me from progressing maybe a little sooner, I was hip thrusting 235lbs for probably the same amount of reps for about 5-6 months - until this past month While I’ve been preaching control and connection for the last few years it CAN get to a point where that control actually hinders your progress DISCLAIMER: doesn’t mean you won’t make ANY progress, it just might take A LOT longer and in a world where everyone’s trying to get to their goals the fastest, staying stagnant for months probably wouldn’t fly w a lot of people It’s takes a lot of energy to move excessively slow, ESPECIALLY with those big compounds, and when it comes to building muscle we want to prioritize mechanical tension (getting as close to failure as we can) and progressive overload (being able to do more over time). A super slow eccentric could keep you at the same weight for a WHILE and has shown to provide no significant hypertrophy difference compared to a normal tempo. So while yes, TUT can bring you that mechanical tension, if you’re not lifting more or doing more over time then I’m sorry you’re not gonna experience much change NOW, I do believe implementing slower tempos has its place in programming, but if you can exhibit the same great connection and form in a “faster” rep as you would in an excessively slower one then I highly recommend picking up the pace, and watch how much faster you progress! @Darc Sport #nfgu #ssdd
