If you desire marriage, start asking Yahweh what needs to change in your singleness. Because wanting a godly marriage and being prepared to sustain one are two different things. You can pray for a faithful husband while still struggling with consistency. You can desire healthy communication while avoiding difficult conversations. You can ask for a patient, loving spouse while refusing to confront your own pride, insecurities, or unhealthy patterns. And the truth is, marriage won't automatically change those things. The person you become in singleness is the person you'll bring into covenant. So before you ask Yahweh to bring someone into your life, ask Him to examine the life you're already living. What habits need to change? What wounds still need attention? Where do you need greater discipline, wisdom, humility, or self-control? What areas of your character have you been neglecting because you've been so focused on the person you're waiting for? Singleness isn't just about preparing to be loved by someone else. It's also about learning how to love well, take responsibility for your actions, honor your commitments, and walk faithfully with Yahweh. And that work matters whether marriage comes soon or years from now. Don't become so consumed with finding the right person that you neglect becoming the person Yahweh has called you to be.
