@madscientistofmuscle: Heavy (565 lbs) Stepping Interval Training for cardio/conditioning and connective tissue training. Moving under load is INCREDIBLY effective for developing all the muscles and support structures up and down your spinal column as well as in your core and your legs. Doing CARDIO under load also challenges your breathing muscles, developing your ability to breathe effectively during hard training. And no, this type of loading is NOT dangerous as long as you gradually work up to using weights like this over time and allow your body to adapt to becoming a pack horse. I've been doing training like this literally for DECADES and I'm 52, so to all the people who said "just wait until you're 50"... I'll just keeping waiting, I guess. This is low-height stepping done inside the power rack, using a safety squat bar so that I can go hands-free on the bar and hold onto the rails for balance. Holding on for balance allows me to use maximum weight without having to worry about balance. I did 12 intervals of 30 seconds, removing weight as need in order to continue for the full intervals. 6 x 30 seconds with 565 lbs 1 x 30 seconds with 515 lbs 2 x 30 seconds with 475 lbs 3 x 30 seconds with 425 lbs Loading like this is not practical do outdoors (without a yoke, at least) and is BEST done inside a power rack so you can set the bar down whenever you need to. In order to not break the STEP riser, I've got a 45 lb bumper plate set underneath it to provide something solid to step on (this weight is WAY more than it's rated to). --- Got a lagging muscle group? Give me 3 weeks and we'll blow it up... Link in bio #cardio #conditioning #loadedcardio #strongmancardio #loadedcarry
