I actually disagree, I live in downtown east village and I walk everywhere. Love walking along the river and to Inglewood. I just don’t walk outside when it’s dark out but even then it feels safe.

City Hall Station and the surrounding area is kind of spicy. I agree that the city has changed, but our situation is not particularly remarkable when compared to other growing cities.

This is every major city's downtown though. Honestly Calgary has one of the better ones. Better than Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto.

I definitely think it's much more uncomfortable walking alone anywhere downtown than say 10-20 years ago. Things have definitely changed for Calgary.
