@hortonlane: Just to be very clear, this video is about delivery, not early pregnancy complications. During labor, there isn’t a moment where someone is asked to “choose.” Doctors are not allowed to harm one patient to save another and medical ethics are very clear on this. There is no “we’ll let one die to save the other” decision being handed off to a spouse. In delivery emergencies, when something goes wrong, the standard response is rapid delivery (often an emergency C-section) while continuing to treat the mother. The goal is to save both as quickly as possible. There isn’t time or even a mechanism for some philosophical “choice” between lives. Even in extreme cases, including very early preterm situations, the response is emergency delivery and intensive care, not a trade-off. 💕 #pregnancyjourney #momtobe #dadtobe #givingbirth #hospitalbirth

I've always wondered! Like there are plenty of doctors to go around for both! The scenario might work if this was before current day medical care but definitely not anymore

Baby 5 my placenta ruptured. I was rushed to the ER and had an emergency csection. My son and I were fighting for our lives. I had 2 OBs, 2 anesthesiologists and an incredible surgical team focused on me. As soon as my son was out he was handed over to an amazing pediatric / NICU team. Our teams were completely separate. In fact, my husband wasn’t even in the OR yet when my son was out and handed off to his team. As they got me stable, I just remember how calm everything was despite the serious situation in the OR. My husband did walk back and forth a bit once he came in between both of us as we were being treated, but we were within feet of each other.
