@norwegiancommunity: Racism in Norway is a topic many foreigners wonder about before moving here, and the honest picture is more layered than the usual “everyone is nice” stereotype. 🇳🇴 Understanding how it actually shows up (or doesn’t) helps you see Norwegian society with clearer eyes. DM me to learn the real Norwegian words and phrases for talking about inclusion, culture, and everyday life here!
I am Malaysian muslim here in Sandefjord. We just arrived a week ago and our experience is very velkommen!

When I visited Norway, I was profiled by the border patrol and then I attended a concert in Horten (metal festival) where a woman fat shamed me. Found that interesting. I am Mexican-American. Otherwise I felt pretty safe there and loved the public transportation.

I didn't experience any racism in Norway from Norwegians, just from Eastern Europeans who I used to work with. I live in the countryside. The Norwegians Ibmet just tend to be shy about speaking in English but but they appreciate it when they see you're making the effort to learn Norsk. From the Norwegians I've met, no racists, they just don't like it when they pay the taxes but they see people (regardless of race) taking advantage of the system and benefits.

That's curious because I feel like usually in bigger cities there is more acceptance and less racism than small cities or villages. I'm eager to go to Norway anyways!
