Suggestion!!! Get the inflatable pillow sleeves, you can use them as an extra pair of hands under the structure so the opposite side doesn't bind, no need for taping up the edges etc...

Why dont you put studs in your hood with lock tight and then nut it from the other said of the bracket that way it wont drop when you take them off on the one side. ?
