I see albums like films. They are pieces of time that are fixed but we change and grow as people so an album I listened to in high school like Sea Change is different to me now with the eyes and life experience as a 41yr old. I connect with it differently after also going through immense heartbreak. The love and appreciation for the music only grows and intensifies as I age. It’s a beautiful gift to experience something again and again over the years in new ways.

It’s true of visual arts too, being a painter for 35 years it’s hard to grapple with some of what I made early on and it’s meaning and context other than that’s it’s also defined by the era I made it. My 2026 eyes still appreciate the early work. I love that you’ve just been authentic with wherever you’ve been and have been willing to explore such a wide array of sounds and textures.
