I graduated with a BS in bio but I’ve been thinking of pivoting to data analytics. Maybe in the same industry or healthcare analytics, or also wouldn’t mind it being a different industry too. I’m taking the Google certificate tho doing it very slowly because of my 9-5 job that I hate

hello , I studied statistics too and just graduated in fact. I've been struggling with learning data analysis off YouTube cause I can't afford bootcamp s or courses on udemy and co . Right now I'm only versatile with excel but I'm actively trying to know more since I've now got a lot of free time on my hands . I'd appreciate any help I can get either by video or course recommendations , a learning partner would be cool too. If you're a beginner like me please feel free to reply to this comment.

i’m studying Computer Information Systems (graduating next month) and I work full time as a QA/QC Analyst at a public utility company. my work primarily revolves around creating systems/reports to catch errors in our CIS platform. on a daily basis i’ll be using SQL, excel, and powerbi. one thing i always keep in mind, especially when building dashboards is “what question is this going to answer.” I think as a data analyst it’s so easy to just live in the data but sometimes you have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. i think of myself as a translator in a way. i need to work with complex and messy datasets and learn how to package the end result in a way that’s understandable to those who don’t know data. courses and classes teach you all the technical skills, but they don’t teach you that part.

I’m Darryl, a recent graduate in Economics and Mathematics and have been laser focused on getting into the Data Analytics/Science world after being super intrigued after taking a data analytics class and data science with python class. I’ve had internships as a data research intern for a startup investment bank, and a SWE intern for a nonprofit education org. I’m currently seeking full-time junior data analyst roles or internships, but I don’t think my resume is quite appealing to hiring managers due to my lack of related projects or internships 😭 I started an advanced analytics certification last week and am currently working on a project that will demonstrate my analyst and data science skills. If I had to ask a question: is it realistic to gun for a specific industry for DSA roles such as the gaming industry? Or should I just apply everywhere. My personal project is related to analyzing performance metrics in video games and I feel that it best reflects my genuine interests and how I can demonstrate my analyst skills. I’m super interested to learn more about the DSA field so feel free to add me on LinkedIn just dm me for more details!

Love seeing more transparency around data careers. Most people only hear the job titles, not what the work actually looks like.

I’m studying statistics and data science and I’m very new to everything! I’m still building my technical skills and as of right now most of my projects and extracurricular experiences lie in product/project management! Would love to hear about how to further develop my data analytics skills and how to bring those skills out in interviews and such!

Hi! I’m studying industrial engineering at a target school right now but i wanna work as a data analyst/ data engineer post grad. As of right now, I am trying to develop my technical skills. I know python but currently learning SQL and power BI. Do you think my major is a disadvantage for these roles especially when compared to CS/ Statistics majors? Any tips + tricks would be appreciated. For context, I just finished my freshman year.

I’m planning to study CS or Data engineering but lots say there’s no future for this major and AI will replace it??! I don’t really understand why they say that and all that matters to me is job opportunities and safe future 🙂
