@themegandaily: #DidYouKnow #TikTokLearningCampaign Did you know that the first major Arab community in the United States was in New York City? An area of Lower Manhattan was known as Little Syria. It was a thriving community with newspapers, poets, restaurants, and more. It was unfortunately displaced when the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel was constructed , but NYC staples such as Sahadi’s remain. Today, Sara Ouhaddou’s beautiful work commemorating this community was unveiled in Elizabeth H. Berger Plaza . I was lucky enough to speak with Deputy Mayor Dean Fuleihan and Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura about this beautiful work of art’s meaning.
