Respect Matters, Even at 35,000 Feet We recently observed an incident onboard where a passenger used their foot to flush the aircraft toilet after placing toilet paper inside. While we understand the desire for hygiene, this method is not appropriate and causes serious issues. Aircraft toilets are designed with specific mechanisms that are sensitive and require proper usage. Using your foot to press the flush button not only damages the system over time, but also leads to clogs when large amounts of paper are improperly disposed of. What you should do: • Use your hand to press the flush button (wash or sanitize after). • Only dispose of toilet paper in the toilet — no wipes, trash, or other items. • Treat all aircraft services and equipment with care and respect. Remember: improper use of lavatory facilities can result in delays, increased maintenance hours, and even flight disruptions.
