It’s amazing to me with how much knowledge is out there that people still decide to use landscape fabric. Its only use is unde toatheays never at the base of plants and trees. The soil isn’t getting nutrients, which in time ruins your soil. the plants will suffer including the tree. It will die a slow death and weeds still grow on top of it.

its a fantastic job and I understand the direction you went but the fabric under mulch is counter-productive. the main job of mulch is to break down into fertile soil and nutrients, hence why we replenish it yearly. it'll be nice for the first year but year 2 when the mulch has began breaking down into soil it will harbor tons of weeds. that's why we have to re apply it. the fabric will hold all that nutrient rich soil out of the ground that it needs to help fuel. tale the fabric out of the mulch and it'll be perfect.
