@europeanspaceagency: How can astronauts measure their weight when they are effectively weightless in space? 🤔 One of the side effects of a long stay in space is the loss of bone density and muscle mass because astronauts don’t have to work against gravity in the same way they do on Earth. Over time, if no countermeasures are taken, this loss of bone and muscle mass can lead to problems when they return to Earth’s gravity. Instead of using weighing scales like we do on Earth, astronauts use devices that measure their mass rather than their weight. The device our astronaut Sophie Adenot uses in this video to measure mass is called a Mass Measurement Device (MMD), known in Russian as Измеритель Масс (ИМ). 📹 European Space Agency (ESA) #ESA #Astronaut #ISS
Random question but: can you shape your hair and it stays that way?

So you are measuring the inertia (depending on the mass) instead of the gravitational pull?

what happends if you 5ry to let an smaller and lighter object like a stress ball orbit around an bigger heavier ball like an steel ball would the stress ball orbit the steel ball if you push it hard enought for it to do an orbit or not
