When the blade doesn’t cut in one clean motion, the skin edge separates unevenly — and starts peeling within days. Fix: check your technique first, then your blade sharpness. 2. You finished with an abrasive instead of a clean cut. Filing after the cut roughens the skin edge and causes it to fray faster. A proper closing cut eliminates the need for finishing with an abrasive altogether. 3. The e-file overworked the cuticle zone. When you go over the same area too many times, the skin reacts — it regenerates faster and grows back rough. The fix: lighter pressure, softer grit, move like a feather. Never press into the cuticle zone. All three of these come down to the same root cause — depth and pressure control.
