@fryrsquared: 📢 Big news for my channel! I have ventured into the realm of longform videos over on Youtube (also @fryrsquared there). A chance to dig even deeper into a juicy topic. Let me know what you think.
Cassandra visited ancestry then decided to free all her relatives.

Okay, AI Engineer here. Think of AI as a teenager that knows everything but hates ambiguity. You have to be specific about what you want it to do otherwise it just does things however it feels in a very low effort manner. If you’re looking into building your own agent, try writing multiple files that tell it how to ‘be’. You can have files for personality, memory, file access, operating rules, approval mechanisms etc etc. it’s so much more powerful when you sculpt it that way and you’ll get to understand why we’re building these things in the first place

The more I hear about AI agents (including from AI engineers) the more I’m reminded of the Stone Soup story. Man says he’s made a delicious soup just using water and stones, and a crowd builds up wanting to try some. He tells each to contribute something small if they want a share- some herbs, a potato, a bit of meat- and hey presto! The soup is finally amazing. To get your miracle agent just spend days prompting precise objectives, guardrails, exceptions and don’t expect it to have initiative, common sense or be able to count reliably. But…if it was human how cost effective would your hours training it be? I didn’t have to train my smartphone, or suffer company disasters when Microsoft’s Clippy deleted the entire customer database. This is oversold, underdeveloped tech that users aren’t capable of handling effectively. And somehow that’s our fault..?

YouTube video is amazing, literally cried with laughter. I like how you added the pressure as AI does tend to do weird things under stress and there’s a number of studies in how AI responds to stress - you’ve probably already heard of it but check out the AI butter experiment.
