Local lore tells of Miorița, the legendary sheep who prophesies betrayal, saving her shepherd with her foresight. These woolly specters seem to channel her spirit, moving like shadows across the autumn-leafed forest floor. In the crisp air, their soft bleats carry whispers of old tales, fragments of forgotten truths tied to the land. The spirit of Baba Dochia lingers here too. Once a shepherdess evading unwanted love, Dochia is said to have climbed into the Carpathians with her flock, seeking solace among the clouds. When winter’s cold gripped her, she and her sheep transformed into stone, forever imprinted on the landscape as ancient sentinels. Her tale echoes in the forest—sheep and shepherd entwined with the land itself, keepers of the forest’s memory and its mysteries. As the day wanes, sheep graze in the fading light, part of a world that feels untouched by time. With every step, they stir something ageless beneath the trees, a reminder that in this quiet dance of shadow and leaf, there’s a beauty that even legends cannot fully capture.
