2015 Chevy 6.2 w/AFM and the 8 speed transmission. 174k miles on it and no issues. I feel like you have to understand how to properly drive the truck with that drive train combo.

While I want nothing to do with Cylinder deactivation, the Fords have been pretty trouble free. Out since 2021.

The first shop bill will cost you way more than any gas you’d supposedly save with any of this crap.

I worked at a GM dealership from 98-2011. The original Gen 3 engine (4.8,5.3,6.0) were virtually bulletproof. Easy to work on and maintain. The 4L60 transmission was good, yet extremely light duty. Once the AFM came out, I watched an otherwise fine engine become barely average. Lifters would crater ( normally cylinders 4-6) destroying the cam lobes. Major $$ to repair.

Was any of that actual words? 🤔 I think I only understood ‘truck’ and that’s it.

field service tech in the I.T field. same issue with pcs. cramming a shit ton into a small box with half a fan. while a desktop with the same shit is running 8 fans. always cramming more into smaller which makes literally everything less reliable

it is OUR fault. people demand low pollution high efficiency trucks and cars, the government then requires that. auto makers must respond with what people demand. there is no magic here.

I bought the last 2016 Canyon after the 2017s hit the lot. It's a 6 speed no start/stop, no AFM. Not a single issue. 124K miles presently. 0 problems

I personally recommend getting a AFM delete as soon as possible. My 5.3 has over 160,000 and going strong

Agree with all of this. As the manager of a auto repair shop this all checks out.

At the end of February we had break pads put all around the car and all 4 rotors were replaced but since every time you back up and hit your breaks theres a rubbing grinding noise coming from the rear of the car and the mechanic checked it and said there was nothing wrong do you know what it could be

I like when they market a 10 speed transmission as some type of new desirable technology that you need!

Emissions and trying to get better fuel mileage are the culprits along with cheap built parts
