@katiechambers_pac: Yeah. I said it. In ten years you’re probably still going to be on it. And that might be the best thing that ever happened to you. Here’s what the data actually shows about long-term GLP-1 use and what it means for your life: The SELECT trial followed over 17,000 people for nearly 4 years. People on semaglutide had a 20% reduction in major cardiovascular events- heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular death. And they weren’t even selected for diabetes. This was people just like you. Heart failure hospitalizations? Down. Kidney disease progression? Slowed. Early data on sleep apnea, liver disease, and even certain cancers? Promising. So yes. Your body may need this medication long term. Just like someone with high blood pressure needs their medication long term. That’s not failure. That’s treatment. The question was never “how long will I be on this.” The question is: what was quietly happening inside your body before you started? The cardiovascular risk you were accumulating. The inflammation. The metabolic stress. The trajectory you were on before something finally interrupted it. That’s the ten year story nobody’s telling. You’re not dependent on a drug. You’re someone who got treated before it was too late. Let that sit for a minute. And congratulate yourself for taking action before it was too late. I am proud of you. #preventativehealthcare #selflove #lifesaving #healthcareproviderwhocares #evidencebased
I have been on high blood pressure medicine for 10 years. I started Zepbound in February. I no longer have to take high blood pressure medicine.

I’ve been on a lot worse for longer…BP meds, statins, metformin. I’m way more scared of the long-term effects of them than my GLP-1

The inflammation thing is shocking how it has improved my ability to breathe in three weeks because I have trachea stenosis. I can feel it easier to get air.
