Im curious what state your working in. Here in California prosecutors tend not to even charge shoplifting unless it's over $1000 and involves violence. I have personally watch people in groups walk out of Walmart with large tvs and no one stops them or calls the pd.

I heard they accumulate multiple visits on the same person who steals so it is a bigger felony cases.

Target is my new hero. Often they will allow a customer to steal several times before prosecuting so that the accumulated value of the theft becomes a felony. You can put this in the folded comments now.

The arrest record will remain public in most states and then companies like mugshot.com use your name and the state record of arrest with high SEO so any Google searches will return your arrest record and mugshot of you. Perfect for employers. This happens whether case is Dismissed or not cause arrest record remains and expungement in many states is cost prohibitive
