@theejohnnychang: Struggling With Sin After Being Saved Romans 7:15–17 "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me." If you’ve been saved for more than five minutes, you know the struggle is real. You wake up. You want to do right. You want to honor God. And then old habits, old thoughts, old temptations come knocking like they never left. You love God. You believe in Jesus. You know you’re forgiven. And yet, you still mess up. Why do we keep falling into the same patterns? It’s because your spirit is new, but your mind is still unlearning the old life. The war isn’t between God and Satan anymore, because God already won. The war is between your faith and your feelings. Your old identity vs your new identity. Struggling with sin after salvation doesn’t mean you’re not saved. It means you’re in a war. Paul himself said, “The good that I would I do not… but the evil which I would not, that I do.” That’s not weakness. That’s the reality of living in a body still running on old software. The world says, “If you mess up, you’re fake.” Religion says, “Do better.” But God says, “You’re a new creature.” The enemy says, “You’re still a sinner.” But the gospel says, “You are righteous, eternally redeemed.” God doesn’t want you to fight sin by staring at sin. He wants you to focus on Jesus, who already conquered it. Sin isn’t just doing wrong things. It’s believing you’re still the old you when God already said you’re new. The enemy’s number one move is to get you to trust your feelings over God’s Word. He’ll whisper, “Nothing’s changed. You’re hopeless.” But Scripture says, “Sin shall not have dominion over you.” You’re not a sinner trying to be holy. You’re holy being tempted to act like a sinner. That changes everything. You are NOT your struggle. Jesus didn’t just forgive your sins. He gave you a new identity. You’re not fighting for victory. You’re fighting from victory. So when you mess up again, do this: Remember the real battle is forgetting who you are in Christ Refocus on what Jesus made right, not what you did wrong Let the Word remind your mind daily of what is already true WANT MORE OF THESE?
