If I come across something about a "scary snake" I say "slithery snake" because I don't teach kids that snakes (or spiders or whatever) are scary. All animals deserve respect.

honestly the vegetable thing is rlly smart, one of the biggest reasons kids are overly obsessed with desserts and junk food is because it is portrayed as the yummy good food that you should want, while healthy is portrayed as yucky and gross and "why would anyone eat this!" by changing the words it keeps kids thoughts neutral like you said, instead of one food being demonized but also "oh but you HAVE to eat the yucky thing" and other foods over praised while being "but you can't eat much". I feel like the way we overly praise and demonize certain foods is also confusing to kids, like this thing is bad but I still have to eat it? or this thing is good but I can only eat a little?

Kid me was always SO SO SO confused on why broccoli and Brussel sprouts were hated by kids in media, I absolutely adored them (mostly because I don't really taste the bitterness in Brussel sprouts) and like how bland do you have to make them if even little kids don't like em?
