Sanji’s writing is consistent with issues across Oda’s writing. Criticizing Sanji is always fair but not criticizing the actual person behind the writing, especially when the fandom is quick to PRAISE him, is the issue IMO.

sanji would be my favorite straw hat if oda didn't ruin him and make him worse each arc. he should have grown during the time skip in many ways and so my head canon Sanji is the only Sanji I know 😮💨 I do still love him and I like his story overall.

I feel like we don't have to "defend" sanji. as someone who likes him, I can choose to interpret his character however I want. he is a fictional character after all, and everything that I don't agree with and find frustrating, I direct it towards Oda. he is the one writing all that garbage and the one who deserves to be rebuked for it. i believe that hating only the character is useless if the author doesn't get it too. its complicated because we love the show, but we don't have to love the author.
