@fox26houston: A driver in Canton, Georgia, was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly striking a bicyclist with his vehicle and knocking the rider off their bike in late April, according to Atlanta News First, citing authorities. Video recorded by Joel Eaby appears to show the driver, identified by authorities as 72-year-old Jerry Ross, following closely behind and beside a group of cyclists while repeatedly honking his horn. As the driver approaches the riders, the vehicles side and mirror appear to make contact with at least one cyclist. According to Fox 5, group ride leader Richard Collins said the driver first struck a cyclist behind him before hitting Collins as well, causing him to be thrown from his bike. Collins said he suffered minor injuries, including soft tissue damage and road rash. Cherokee County deputies told Atlanta News First that Ross told investigators the cyclists were at fault for the crash. Ross now faces six charges, including two counts of aggravated assault and failure to maintain a safe distance from a bicycle.

the general rule is that cyclists must ride in single file. Deliberately preventing overtaking is a violation of the law and can be dangerous.
