This year for Mr. He’s birthday, we were traveling in Hawaii 🌺, so I ended up buying him a birthday cake 🎂. I usually make him one every year, so since he didn’t get a homemade cake this time, he’d been whining about it for a whole month 😭. To save myself some peace for the remaining eleven months, I let him pick whatever cake he wanted 😂. He pulled up an episode of Peppa Pig and said he wanted Daddy Pig’s birthday cake 🐷🎂. It looked super simple… but somehow it took me THREE tries before I finally got it right 💀. The cake itself is definitely denser than a typical sponge, but it actually tastes really good! And with that glossy chocolate ganache on top ✨ it’s both pretty and delicious. For the ganache: heat 200g of heavy cream over low heat until you see tiny bubbles forming around the edges. Pour it over 100g of chopped 70% dark chocolate 🍫, don’t stir right away—just let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then mix until smooth. Let it cool down to about body temperature before pouring it over the cake, otherwise the cream underneath will melt 😅. Overall, this was such a fun (and slightly chaotic) experiment 😆💗
