Ok specifically between 1st to 4th gen ram is a great option, but 5th gen, forget that it has a 68rfe for a second, you still have the roller lifter/ catastrophic engine failure. Personal preference perfect first deisel for anyone, lml duramax specifically 2015.5-2016. Throw a fass on it itll run forever. On 250k on mine. Anything first to 4th gen dodge ram is an amazing option, I know a bunch of people that have had nothing but good luck with their 68rfe. 2013-2016 ford super duty 6.7 is another great first option. If you don’t know how to fix yourself I’d stay away from 6.4 power stroke, 6.0 power stroke, any eco duramax that’s before 2026, lmm, lly, lbz, and especially l5p, 5th/6tg gen ram still uses the roller lifter system so stay away from those, 7.3 is a good one but it’s hard to find a nice one for a good price. Lz0 is a great option half ton ram eco deisel can be nice if taken care of and maintained properly. A very forgotten gem is the 3.0 power stoke.
