@tiffanyelewin: The fact I had to act this out with a teddy bear makes me laugh… but on a serious note, children don’t become what you tell them, they become what you show them #consciousparenting #cyclebreaker #skit #breakthecycle #parenting
Absolutely. If I do something wrong, I apologise to my children to role model that it wasn’t ok and repair

there's no need to make them there are other ways of dealing with things. learning self control is number 1

This !!!! Telling kids not to smack but doing it to them ? How confusing for them, it doesn’t do anything other than make parents think they’ve got control when in reality for you to put your hands on your child, you’ve clearly lost all control

my would tell me "who's in control of you. right. YOU. it's not ANYONE else's fault that you did that. it's YOUR fault YOU did it" when I was upset but then turns around and says "maybe if you listened and behaved I wouldn't HAVE to hit you. if YOU just acted right I wouldn't be hitting you" when I was in trouble. riiigghhhttt? and who's in control of you? you? riighhtt that's exactly what I thought..

what worked for your parents and you, was probably right for that time and place. doesn't mean this should apply to your and your kids, different setting and times. so im aligned with this video

I feel like I need better context before I can think of an opinion. Context A: Child was just smacking the mom for no reason, then you discipline them. In my eyes, I don't want to start any fight, it's teaching the child not to smack people for no reason. But I do see where people are coming from that this a double standard

But the parents are discipling, the child is being aggressive. They aren't the same.

Tbh I don’t see the point of physical abuse being a form of displine it just makes them build up anger and hit back not really solving anything give them a firm convo on why it’s not good

I remember being out once and seeing a Dad kick and shout at his daughter for kicking and shouting at her sister. Like how can you not see the double standard?!
