TLDR: I’m sick of supernatural and/or grief + trauma based horror… I just feel like it’s been WAY overdone recently. But ‘Hokum’ is VERY well made, and Adam Scott plays the moody writer archetype to a T, so it still earned a pretty solid 3/5 from me.👏🏼

I actually enjoyed it. It had a lot of symbolism and also represented the directors older films like oddity and caveat. 8.5/10

The plot was all over and didn’t make sense, the horror characters weren’t constant and didn’t really have a back story, the relationships between the characters weren’t well built. And yea I wish the jackrabbit was there longer only scary part

Unfortunately the theatre I went to tonight had the volume so low that even the jumpscares didn’t evoke any emotions and literally everyone around me was yawning I was soo bored and that’s crazy because I love all horror and I’m not that picky but maybe it was simply how low the volume was..? Completely agree about the grief/trauma trope that is seemingly in almost every horror movie these days. My mom passed away in 2018, and my dad passed away last year and I go to the movies multiple times a month as a way to escape and sometimes it just gets ollllld having every horror movie based around dead parents

I don’t like horror movies but some scenes made my boyfriend and I giggle but since none of us watch horror movies often we both got pretty scared at some scenes. I do agree the goat should have been seen more.
