like omg… that’s me? that’s my name? 🥺 feel free to try out new names in the comments 🥹👉👈 finding my name was a process, i remember i started by putting myself down as Evelyn in the machine at a sandwich shop, but when the employees actually called it out i didn’t answer to it right away and i was so embarrassed, i remember feeling then as if i wasn’t WORTHY of such a CUTE name. for better or for worse my deadname was a very strange one with no associated gender so for a time i coasted by without feeling too intense an urge to change it. that was until about 3 months on estrogen when i started to go out more and enjoy life as a girl and i realized how much my deadname bothered me. at that point i remembered some words my mom had said to me years earlier, that if i had been born a girl she would have named me grey… well, seeing as i had been born a girl after all, it felt to me like grey was already my name! it felt very natural, similar enough to my deadname phonetically that the adjustment felt gradual, and i felt as if by taking it i was honoring my mom who passed away when i was 19. but after a year of living with it and quite a bit of thought, i realized that my deadname had soured my association with “G” names. i find the letter g to be a mouthful now, very inelegant, nothing like my favorite letter E. as much as i love grey, i always thought it sounded a bit gender neutral! and i felt the urge to adopt something more feminine. among friends i started going by evelyn, emily, eleanor, and all their nicknames. there’s just something about e that sounds so sweet to me, and nothing melts my heart quite like my friends calling me by the soft sound of the name ellie. so i think this may well be how i come out as… eleanor! ellie for short 🙂↕️ grey is hereby my middle name and stage name 💃 finding your name can be challenging, and asking people to address differently takes strength and vulnerability! but once you crest that hill, that feeling of hearing someone call you by your name for the first time? feels like sun on your skin 🙂↕️🫶 #trans #transgender #transwoman #transgirl #visualeffects
