Back in the day when I was rebuilding engines we used a dip tank filled with a caustic, alkaline base, chemical mixed with water to totally dissolve everything on an engine block. Now these dip tanks could either be cold, not heated, or heated. And it’s the only way you can get into the passages for the oil and cooling system to dissolve sledge and scale buildup. And you don’t have to worry about tiny little beads in there. It takes a little bit longer, especially in a cold tank, but a hot tank at around 140° probably about two hours. Personally myself 5 mile machine shop I wouldn’t use that beat machine on cylinder blocks or heads. But that’s just me. You can do what you want .
