@thestressdocmd: Many women describe feeling forgetful, mentally slow, or overwhelmed—but what’s often labeled as “brain fog” may actually be cognitive overload, a well-established concept in cognitive psychology referring to when the brain is asked to process more information than working memory can handle. Research shows that women disproportionately carry cognitive labor—the invisible work of planning, anticipating, and managing—which is linked to higher levels of chronic stress, burnout, and depression. At the same time, chronic stress is known to impact attention, memory, and decision-making, and over time, it is associated with increased risk of both mental and physical health conditions. Understanding the difference between biologically driven brain fog and socially driven cognitive overload is essential—not just for clarity, but for prevention and treatment. I am going to say this to my parents I am NC with. The other day they tried to come to my house. They drove over 1 hour to get here. My kids, my husband, nor I want to see them ever again. Maybe this will pause them from bothering us. I am prioritizing my health and mental awareness.

Acknowledging my bandwidth is the smartest thing I've ever done. I also use it at work... and have warned them if they push... they'll get it... but it will be the raw data & they can configure it.
