It’s the reverse. Couples are buying up one bedrooms because they’ve been priced out of anything bigger. The prices are driving people into smaller spaces. People trying to live where they can afford are not the cause of landlord price gouging.

it's all trying to force single women to have to either get with men or try to get roommates either way is trying to force women to rely on men cuz right now in society women don't need men so if they keep increasing the prices of everything it's to the point of where a single person cannot survive without having somebody else like a man paying for crap

In SF, it is $4000. That’s the current median price for a one bedroom

Truth be told. :
Same thing with 2 beds. I think they eventually figure out that most 2 beds were being rented by 2 adults so they priced them accordingly. It feels like they charge per bedroom now. 1500 for one bedroom and 1,000 per bedroom after that. Give or take a couple hundred.

I agree! 10 years ago there used to be a significant cost difference between a one bedroom and a multi bedroom unit now they’re almost the same you might as well get the two bedroom for more space. 🤷♂️

And if I said this is a part of the plan to boost the birth rate 👀 make it literally impossible for the majority of the population to live alone so they hurry into relationships and get pregnant.

I’ve legitimately started seeing landlords in major cities suggesting people split one bedrooms college dorm style. Instead of just having affordable housing.

I live in Nashville and my options for living alone are living in an apartment that costs half my income, is in the worst area in the metro, and takes an hour and a half to commute during the worst traffic- or get a second job so I can afford to live closer to my first job

I am buying a house as a single woman because the mortgage is the same as 1 bedroom apartments in my area. 😐 luckily I was able to save enough for a down payment because I'm sorry... apartments should not cost as much as a whole house. like what are we even doing.

A 1 bed by us in a decent neighborhood without in-unit washer and dryer, no utilities included, starts around $1800/mo. My wife and I literally couldn’t afford a 2 bed even if we wanted to.

Apt manager here. Rents usually go up 3-6% yearly because the cost to run a community (taxes, utilities, services, payroll, etc) go up. When you see huge jumps in rental rates it’s because the city is not building enough housing to keep up with demand. However, I’ve seen companies get greedy, then later humbled when new properties are built causing them to have to offer HUGE discounts and cut rental rates.
