A stylist once told me that the blow dryer attachment would flow through my hair from root to tip once it was no longer damaged … my hair is 4c why would I EVER comb it root to tip without detangling it??

I had a hair stylist tell me that my hair was damaged because it dried too fast.. not sure if that is correct, but I was blown.

I booked a last minute appointment after taking out some braids. I was desperate.. I have 4c hair. The beautician dry detangle. She didn't even use a spray bottle or anything. So much of my hair was on the floor. I went from hair to pass my armpit level back to little pass shoulder. I was heartbroken 😭. I had an uneasy feeling after booking that appointment the day before. I should have listened to my gut.

My 4C hair is densely packed like a pack of ramen, healthy by the way and will be detangled every time before washing

I agree my son hair was very different from mine. He was very thick. I realized right away that I did not know how to manage his particular hair type and that I needed to learn so I asked other people with hair like him. I even thought to go to school for it, but I never thought to cut it.

people take down LOCS everyday, I can't believe she STRUGGLES to detangle regular loose afro hair and just decides to cut it off. 🤷🏽 then complains that there are lots of fairy knotts at the ends etc. yeah hoe, continue to detangle and remove the shed hair hanging off!!!!! she just stops trying half way down. why her client's hair always look bushy at the ends?. it's like she CHOPS OFF their hair just to convince them that only she can grow it back IF they return to her... 😐🤯

One thing ppl don’t understand is the hair do not need to be cut for reverting. Had a stylist tell me my hair was damaged and needed cutting. This was after I grew my hair from a low fade. No heat used at all.

If a stylist is only doing straight hairstyles then they shouldn't do black hair because black hair isn't straight.Like you only do silk press

I agree, if you big chopping every time you see a little damage…then you will never see any growth. Instead be gentle with your hair and cut a little by little…so the hair can grow out while maintaining the health.

Like our hair is literally made of curls and coils it’s always going to coil with and against eachother. ESPECIALLYYY going from wet to dry. Most the time it isn’t even ‘tangled’ it’s just sat in a pattern and when u try brushing anything through it, ur disrupting whatever it’s done naturally and will move and now one curl/coiled strand has moved into another one

yes, because I don’t really have a defined curl pattern, and I have fine/dense hair, everything is “packed” together and goes whatever direction it wants. When I detangle I have to use small sections, and determine whether the resistance i’m feeling is damage or just places where my hair is going in different directions. Sometimes it’s just a knot I have to get out with my finger first, before going back with a brush. You have definitely taught me how to pay attention and not just assume that my hair is inherently damaged. Thank you !
