We act like all of this just exists for us. The flowers we walk past, the animals that die so we can eat, the fruit and vegetables that take so much time, energy and effort to grow, we barely stop to think about any of it. We spray weeds, poison ants, kill spiders and get rid of insects because they annoy us, forgetting that even the smallest creatures play a part in keeping the world we rely on alive. We consume more than we need and call it normal. But what if it all stopped? What if one day the shelves weren’t full, the food wasn’t always there and the things we take for granted disappeared? Maybe then we would finally understand that none of this was guaranteed. Before you eat that pork shoulder or ham and cheese toastie, spare a thought for the beautiful animal that died so you could enjoy it. A little gratitude would go a long way. The Western world as we know it cannot keep living this way forever. That reality is coming sooner than many people want to believe. If you cannot see that, you are in for a rude awakening. Get ready #offgrid
