I haven’t dated for 5 years after the worst breakup ever and recently I gave a girl I knew in high school a chance just for her to lead me on for months and say she’s not ready for a relationship. I don’t know what’s wrong with me to make her say that but we had so much fun together during the time we were talking. We’d laugh at the same stuff, we enjoyed doing the same things, we were almost perfect for each other in every way. She’d tell me about her exs and how they hurt her and I’d love her in the ways they never did because she deserved it. I’d stay over at her house for weeks as a time and I’d get her flowers and her favorite candy every damn day. Maybe I’m just not ready to try again.

Therapist here. Highly recommend reading Healing Isn’t Pretty by Mira Hartson. Your anger and sadness is an appropriate response to the big and small betrayals you have experienced your whole life. Time to heal.
