Despite knowing they were in danger, the first officer failed to aggressively take physical control of the aircraft when the captain ignored his warnings. This heartbreaking tragedy forced airlines to further reinforce their CRM protocols—ensuring co-pilots are trained not just to suggest a "go-around," but to forcefully execute one themselves if the captain is unresponsive to a fatal error.
