5 International Trips to Take Before Your Kids Grow Up 1. Italy Pizza. Pasta. Gelato. But MOST of all: Italian Fanta. IDK what it is about Italian Fanta. It’s so refreshing though. Oh yeah, then there’s also history, art, and culture. You can get around via train and walk everywhere, so no need to bring car seats. I was worried people would glare at us having 4 small children, but it was quite the opposite. People engaged with our kids and made them smile. 10/10 recommend. 2. Guatemala Yes, you should go while they’re young, but this is the only one on the list I would recommend waiting until your youngest is 4 for 2 reasons: 1. It’s impossible to use a stroller in the spots we visited. 2. A lot of the fun activities are more fun with older kids. Ziplining, hiking a volcano, using the lancha water taxis in Lake Atitlan, seeing Tikal, etc. A baby in a baby carrier would be fine! But toddlers would be tough. I loved that the culture was still so strong here, and I was able to practice my Spanish quite a bit instead of everyone speaking to us in English. It was fun for the kids to practice some Spanish phrases and learn about the Maya people, the wildlife, and the geography and culture here. 3. Scotland If you have young Harry Potter fans, this is the place to go! Ride the Hogwarts Express, have a Harry Potter themed afternoon tea, and take a free Harry Potter Walking Tour. Edinburgh is stunning, and felt so safe and walkable. Just a heads up: you can use a stroller but there are TONS of hills in the city. Do not skip the highlands. It’s a dream to visit with kids! 4. Greece Once again, the people here were warm and welcoming to our big family. The Greek Island of Paros was a breath of fresh air. We were so relaxed there. Beaches, whitewashed towns, blue domed churches, lots of cats, and lots of ice cream. Add 2-3 days in Athens for some history and culture! 5. Costa Rica This is a popular destination for a reason, and my favorite to visit with toddlers and preschoolers thanks to the ubiquitous wildlife. You can relax at a resort with volcano views, spend the day at the beach, or take family-friendly tours. So much to do and see, and so family-friendly. #travelwithkids #traveltiktok #summervacation #travelcreator #familytravel
