I think Deku not joining his agency is the perfect reflection of their relationship. Their almost relationship. Deku loves him, whether you see it as platonic or romantic is up to you, but in this scenario he truly loves him. The difference is that he realized he can still move forward. He doesn’t need Kacchan anymore. He fell first and eventually came to terms with the fact that he could continue living his life without him. And Kacchan realized everything far too late. Romantic or not he waited so long that Izuku no longer needs him even if the entire reason for his agency was Izuku.

the yearning part just made me reconsider my pov on bakudeku. i think he’s 100% yearning for him now, he wanted to be him all his life bc he hated how geneuine izuku was and he wished he was like that and it created hatred for him, but now that they’re older he’s realized that hatred is love and now he yearns for him but he knows it won’t happen.
