when i was in seoul they only gave tax refunds in dollar and yen and im european so i had to exchange it back home again for euros

If I’m visiting and enjoying the beauty and resources of a land, I want them to keep those taxes. Help school their children and keep the land beautiful for future visitors. I don’t need those taxes back. Just a personal choice.

Everytime I go, I scan before entering security and then just go straight to tax refund as they say no need for customs

I had to show the item and get a stamp because they wanted to make sure I was actually taking it out of the country, not buying it for resale or local use.

yes it was so confusing, my first trip i missed out of 200-300 worth of refund and there were many similar tourists like me inside the refund area facing same problem. now my subsequent trips were all like what you said 👍🏻
