I feel like if you want to make it big in any industry or field you need to work as server for some years.

Restaurant work is the ultimate education in human behavior. It teaches you how to read a room, manage your time, think on your feet, solve problems quickly, de-escalate conflict, and work as part of a team.
It also teaches sales, presentation, organization, trust-building, and the art of surprise and delight. More than anything, it teaches you how to create moments and memories that make people feel seen, valued, and remembered.
Everyone should spend some time serving. It makes you wise in ways traditional education never could.

Completely agree with this take. Restaurants taught me so much about being a team player, humility, and treating people with respect.

Most of the skills that have helped me in corporate America were acquired while working as a bartender.

I’ve always said people need to do retail or restaurant work for two years like other countries require military service for two years.

Yes. It’s a version of “triage” as well. Quickly shifting between “emergencies”. I got all my confidence working at a restaurant in college.

He is 1001% accurate. I was a bartender for over 15 years, and now I work as a Paralegal in a law firm. I attribute my success in the firm to the experience I gained working in the hospitality industry
