@phoenixferals: My sweet Tom 😭 We are waiting for bloodwork results from his vet visit yesterday, before deciding what would be the kindest protocol. We should hopefully have them in by Monday. Tom weighed in at 7.2 lbs yesterday, which was honestly more than I thought it be. But it’s still gravely underweight for his body build. He should be closer to double that. He tested positive for FIV, but we’re suspecting that he may have hyperthyroidism. While that would be treatable, it can also lead to kidney disease and failure when left untreated. I’m not sure how progressed his illness is, and how dire things have become. Waiting is an anxious game, but I’m trying to soak up all these moments with my precious scaredy cat senior baby 😭❤️‍🩹 I’m so grateful that he trusted me enough to be trapped, and I can try my best to give him the best care or painless passing. #rescueanimals #feralcatsneedlovetoo #anticipatorygrief
