It is very very hard to deconstruct. I was raised Christian my whole life I’m 35 now and an atheist but I was about 28-29 when I opened my eyes. It’s a process and a painful one. It’s like you lived a whole lie but you learned the truth.

Another IMPORTANT thing to note about deconstruction is many ex-Christians never planned to deconstruct in the first place. At least that’s what happened to me. I thought questioning and studying the Bible more would deepen my faith.. but here I am as an Agnostic lol.

It’s unfortunate, but it’s like when someone is in an abusive relationship. State your case, let them live their life, and be there with open arms when they finally escape. They have to have the personal gut kick to feel that pain and to know they don’t wanna feel that ish again!

she's right about where you are when you leave? I did't leave the church, I would barely say I was even a part of it. I was sent to church by my family on the regular. wednesday youth discovery, and Sunday school. wen I churchytips all the time, but to me it was never about religion, it was just an opportunity to hang with my friends and be social. It never took hold and when I began to realize everyone was super serious about what we were being taught that's when everything felt super weird and wrong
