Alright so a lot of people ar confused about the meaning of the book. It does not actually say all that much about whether communism or capatalism is good or bad. Its an allegory for the russian revolution and the totalitarianism that followed it. The message of the book is: revolutions of the people that have the promise of everything can turn into the oppressive system they once overthrew. Orwell was a democratic socialist, so he saw the revolution of communism as highly dangerous.
