Why do we fall in love? Out of need? For connection? Or simply out of fear of being alone? Sometimes we think love is something that just happens—a meeting of eyes, someone appearing right when we're most lost. And yes, sometimes it seems like an accident, but other times, we fall in love from emptiness. From the wound, from that broken part that seeks to feel whole, because love doesn't always come when we're ready; sometimes it comes when we need it most, or when we confuse it most with something else.
Eric Fromm said that love is an art—that feeling it isn't enough, you have to learn to care for it. It's not just emotion; it's commitment. It's looking at the other person and telling yourself, 'I choose you, not because I need you, but because with you, I am more myself.' But in this fast-paced world where everything is swapped, discarded, replaced, we're afraid to love because loving for real means taking a risk. Sometimes we fall in love with how we feel beside them, because in the end, we don't always love who we choose. Sometimes we love unintentionally, without understanding, without planning. And if that love changed you, even if it hurt, maybe it wasn't a mistake—maybe it was exactly what you needed to grow.
