DANGME PEOPLE STAND WITH THE DANGME STATE OF SƐ (SHAI) TO PROTECT ITS TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY The @Dangme people stand firmly with the Dangme State of Sɛ (Shai) in protecting its traditional authority, territorial integrity, customary jurisdiction and heritage. The Dangme people will not accept an outsider traditional authority or an outsider Paramount Chief coming into a Dangme Traditional Area to install a chief. There is strong opposition to the proposed visit of Nana Kwasi Akuffo III, Paramount Chief of Akwapem, to the Dangme town of Dodowa to install or outdoor an Akwapem chief. Dodowa is within the Sɛ (Shai) Traditional Area. Larteh, Amonokrom and Obosomase are within the Akwapem traditional area. The question is whether traditional authorities from these areas can come into Sɛ (Shai) territory and exercise traditional authority by installing a chief. In this video, an elder shares an account of attempts by Larteh, Amonokrom and Obosomase to install a chief within the Sɛ (Shai) Traditional Area. Listen carefully to the elder’s account. This issue is bigger than individuals. It concerns traditional authority, territorial boundaries, customary jurisdiction and respect for the institutions of our traditional areas. The Sɛ (Shai) youth and traditional councils have strongly opposed the proposed installation of an Akwapem chief in Lower Dodowa. The Dangme people stand with them. All nine Dangme Traditional Areas must stand together whenever the traditional authority and territorial integrity of one of our own is challenged. This is not hostility towards Akwapem. It is a call for mutual respect between traditional areas and respect for established traditional boundaries. DANGME PEOPLE STAND WITH SƐ (SHAI). Respect Sɛ (Shai). Respect Dangme traditional authority. Respect our traditional boundaries. #Dangme #Sɛ #Shai #Dodowa #DangmeHeritage
