The mileage tax wouldn’t be on top of the gas tax, it would be replacing the gas tax because California is attempting to get taxes from EV owners since 25-29% of cars in California are EVs. The least expensive fee proposed by California would actually lead to you paying less money ($0.02c per mile driven). Although, the most expensive fee proposed ($0.04c per mile driven) could make you pay almost double. None of this is definitive though because the mileage tax proposal hasn’t even been passed yet, and is still being studied and tested. Check your sources before getting angry on tiktok. (Although paying double is pretty bs, hopefully that is changed otherwise pray for California)

i love misinformation. yes california is expensive to live in but they were looking into testing to see how this would work and it would REPLACE the 61 cent per gallon tax. it was something considering but not implemented. either way it would never pass, its something that the state would vote on. it hasnt even been introduced as a bill yet its just an idea
