Okay about 50 swipes later guess what I found!!! Apparently Trader Joe’s at least does sell cellulose or plant based sponges!!! That’s a great option for folks wanting to try this out and use less plastic 🥰

I was JUST telling my husband that I wanted to do water balloons at our daughters birthday in a few weeks. I didn't want to do plastic because I didn't want to pick them up, but I heard reusable ones hurt. This is such a good idea. Thank you!

since Zip ties are also plastic and can hurt sometimes I recommend using some string or rubber bands since they're softer

I don’t think people are grasping that these are reusable unlike water balloons. Even if they’re plastic they’re still way more sustainable and don’t explode into a million tiny pieces
