So. Fun fact. The English language was still a baby and had barely been written when the printing press came around. So even though the language was still developing after being changed by Norman’s and Vikings. So, after the great vowel shift, words were changing. But the printing press standardized spelling in the old ways while words were being pronounced in new ways.
