personally Id remove the stumps as much as possible and plant flowers maybe hostas or something with colors. no trees , roots = damage to foundation, roof, no..thank you.

Don’t do the same thing. Make the bed much wider and further away from the fence. If you want beautiful evergreens for privacy do giant arborvitaes.

You won't dig up those stumps. The roots from them are growing under your house and may cause settling in a few years. So watch for that. Easy fix is to cut them close to the ground, use root kill, cover with mulch and let them rot. Move the bed border out and plant something bushy like gardenias in front of the stumps. They will hide the stumps and be evergreen.

i wouldn’t use it for fire wood if it’s for a chimney due to it being so sappy the sap will leave residue on the inside of chute and will cause build up of soot and ash
